As part of their ongoing development of research skills, Poly sixth-graders engage in a six-week project in which they write a research paper and construct a project based on an ancient history subject that interests them. For the hands-on element of the assignment, students built models, dioramas, or displays related to the subject of their paper. This year’s models included: the Acropolis in Athens, the Dome of the Rock Mosque, the Pyramids of Meroë, a Viking ship, the bust of Nefertiti, the Temple of Solomon, prehistoric tools and weapons, and the hanging gardens of Babylon.
