Poly’s Varsity Softball Team Wins 8-7 Against Rancho Mirage

Poly’s Varsity softball team followed up their first round playoff victory with another exciting finish in yesterday’s second-round game against Rancho Mirage. The Panthers’ 10-girl roster, consisting of eight freshmen starters, found themselves trailing 7-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning before putting together the best rally of the season. The Panthers would score four runs in their half of the inning to push the games to extra innings. After holding the visiting Rattlers to no runs in the top of the eighth, the Panthers knocked in the winning run on a walk-off single from Catalina Alonso. The victory earned Poly its third consecutive trip to the CIF-SS Division 6 quarterfinals. Poly will host Calvary Chapel Christian School tomorrow, May 26, at 3:15 p.m.

Polytechnic School, 1030 E. California Blvd., Pasadena, (626) 396-6300 or visit www.polytechnic.org.
