Polytechnic School: Back-to-back Baseball Wins in Opening Week

Poly’s Varsity baseball team starts the season off with back-to-back wins last week. After graduating three seniors last season, the team returns with the majority of the members from last year’s CIF-SS Division 5 Finalist team. The Panthers opened their season against the Aztecs from Mark Keppel High School. The Panthers dominated, tacking on 24 runs by the fourth inning when the game was called.

The following day, Poly played Southwestern Academy where they faced a much tougher opponent. Both teams put a run on the board in the first inning, but Southwestern rallied in the second outscoring the Panthers 2-1. The Panthers came back in the third, closing out the inning by tallying up three more runs. They held the score for the rest of the game and Poly outscored Southwestern 5-3.

This gives them momentum as they open league play against Chadwick on Tuesday, Mar. 3. The Panthers are on the road for the next game that starts at 3:45 p.m. Check out the athletic calendar for details and directions.
