Polytechnic School Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremonies

After a wonderful honors ceremony yesterday morning, the Middle School celebration continued in the evening with the eighth grade promotion. Students gave speeches, reflecting on their time in the Middle School, as well as three musical performances: Eleanor Rigby performed by a strings/woodwind combination, Seasons of Love from Rent, sung by four eighth-graders, and Green Day’s “Time of your life” performed by a student band that has been a part of the Class of 2019 since their days in Lower School. During the presentation of diplomas, Middle School Director Jenn Tolbert was surprised with an honorary diploma. As she presented the Class of 2019, Mrs. Tolbert celebrated their ability to assert their individuality without forsaking their close bond as a group. Her gift to the class was a pillow with words to live by from Robert Louis Stevenson: Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”
