Polytechnic School: Love Stinks Fest

For the not-so-romantically inclined, the Polytechnic Middle School library held a celebratory “Love Stinks” fest on Thursday afternoon. Seventh and eighth grade students discussed which literary characters would be the best and worst dates, and competed in writing love poems. Students also took turns being Cupid (harder than it looks) by throwing rope hoops at a target. The pièce de résistance was the chocolate tasting station, where bananas, strawberries, and pretzels were dipped in melted chocolate. Yum!

Seventh grade prize-winning entry:

On Valentine’s Day…
Kanye loves Kanye
He knows he’s the bomb-ay
No one tells him he’s wrong-ay
The only other person he loves is Beyoncé
Kanye is his own fiancé
Kanye has a bay-bay
But instead of bay-bay, he loves…Kanye!
