PUSD’s All Star Band First Rehearsal

First rehearsal of the year for Pasadena Unified School District’s (PUSD)s All Star Band! Welcome to the amazing new band director, Dan Adams!

PUSD’s Strong Tradition of Music Instruction

Instrumental music instruction is offered by PUSD music teachers starting in the third grade, with whole-class instruction in violin, and band and orchestra options for fourth and fifth grades. Through partnerships with music education organizations like the Pasadena Conservatory and Education Through Music-Los Angeles, elementary general music is offered to grades K-5 at select elementary schools. After-school orchestras are thriving at Field Elementary and Jackson STEM through Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, and at Longfellow through The Harmony Project.

Chorus, band, and orchestra are offered at PUSD’s middle and high schools, giving students many opportunities to refine their artistic craft and form in the school community, and in the wider Pasadena community. PUSD is working to integrate technology into its music courses, at Eliot Arts Magnet and high school arts Pathways.

Annual spring festivals of choral, band, and orchestral music showcase the talents of student musicians from across the district, in grades 4-12.
