Ramona Convent Celebrates Grandparents!

(L-R): Aurelia & Paul Franco, Jessica Franco ’15, Martha & Richard Chacon

On Wednesday, December 3rd, Ramona Convent kicked off the holiday season with a festive concert and luncheon honoring the students’ grandparents. Grandparents were invited to spend part of the day with their granddaughters on Ramona’s beautiful 19 ¼ acre campus. The afternoon began with a performance by four different musical groups, consisting of two choirs and two handbell ensembles. Students made beautiful music that touched hearts and brought the joy of the season right into the room. The handbell ringers played with precision, grace, and tremendous focus. The concert concluded with singers and ringers combined, wishing the audience a “Merry Christmas to You All” with an amazing raucous round. Ramona’s music students made absolutely beautiful music, bringing fun and deep joy to all those in attendance.

The rain let up just in time for the granddaughters to escort their grandparents to the Holy Family room for a catered lunch. As they entered the room, the nurturing nature of our students was evident as they lovingly escorted their grandparents to the tables. Senior Jessica Franco warmly welcomed all the grandparents with a heartfelt speech which included many thanks for all the special things for which she enjoys about her grandparents such as delicious meals and warm hugs. All enjoyed an Italian feast with warm apple cider — a perfect touch on a cool day. The room was filled with exuberant conversation as the grandparents had a chance to meet other grandparents and their granddaughters’ classmates.

As the visit came to an end, many grandparents enjoyed a one-on-one tour of the campus their granddaughters call “home.” As the bell rang, granddaughters quickly headed off to their next class but not without final exchanges of hugs and kisses.
