Saint Elizabeth Celebrates Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day

Buelita, Buelito, Halmeoni, Abba, Amma, Harmuhnee, Halabuhgee, Lolo

All these endearing terms are names the children in our Transitional Kindergarten call their cherished grandparents. On November 17th, students throughout our school have the opportunity to introduce these honored individuals to their teachers, friends, and classrooms. It is an annual event that draws both grandparents and special friends to accompany the students to pray, participate in classroom activities, and finally, lunch together. This year’s celebration will culminate with the In and Out burger truck. What better way to end a busy morning at school with your grandparents than sitting down to lunch with L.A.’s iconic burger?

In Transitional Kindergarten, our little ones will greet their grandparents then go celebrate Mass with them in our beautiful church. The span of cultures and generation come together here at our school celebrating this month of Thanksgiving. Students and grandparents together listen intently, sing, and raise hands in praise – a living example of Saint Elizabeth multi-cultural and generational inclusive faith.

After Mass, TK will proceed to the classrooms where a variety of arts, crafts and story-telling activities await them. The grandparents will write down favorite memories of their school days with their grandchild, and then they will illustrate the story together. This will be proudly displayed on our “TK Author’s” wall to read and enjoy after our special guests have gone.
