San Marino High School: Div. 2 Girls Tennis Captures 3rd Behind Div. 1 Powerhouses Dana Hills & University

The Girls Varsity team came in third place in the September 21-22, 2012 Dana Hills Tennis Coastal Championships. Fourteen teams competed, including perennial powerhouses and eventual first and second place finishers, Dana Hills High School and University High School. The Ford Top Ten poll projects Dana Hills as the CIF Division 1 champion with University projected to come in second.

Led by top nationally ranked senior, Dorothy Tang, who recently committed to Princeton, the girls swept Corona Del Mar, 8-0. With the format being 5 singles and 3 doubles, Madeleine Gandawidjaja, Devon Jack, Larissa Phillips, and Vivian Le won their 8 game pro sets. Tang and Jack, Gandawidjaja and Phillips, and Le and Monique Gandawidjaja, teamed up to win all the doubles matches as well.

The same combination of players also beat Santa Barbara, 6-2, but lost to Dana Hills 2-6 which placed the team in the match to determine third place against two time Division 3 winner, La Jolla Country Day. With the help of great doubles play of Andrea Klein and Laureen Chang, the Lady Titans won by a margin of 6-2.
