South Pasadena High School Academic Decathlon Team #1 in LA County for Fourth Consecutive Year

South Pasadena High School has won the 2018 Academic Decathlon competition for Los Angeles County for the fourth consecutive year! The team won a jaw-dropping 94 medals and placed first in Super Quiz Relay, first in overall/all-division and first in the JV team category. SPHS also set a new record for the highest overall team score in LA County.

SPHS team member, Thomas Sawano, was the highest overall scoring decathlete in the entire county with SPHS students Steven Chin and Allison Ou winning second and third place. Looking forward, the SPHS team advances to the California Academic Decathlon competition in March.

The following students are part of the Academic Decathlon teams: Zane Atkinson, Maegan Chang, Steven Chin, Dawson Galluzzi, Grace Goldman, Adam Hamden, Dexter Hawes, Kimberly Hsueh, Harry Huang, Ryan Jeong, Tate Johnson, Chris Kalaw, Michael Marino, Allison Ou, Yoli Patzkowski, Danny Safaoui, Thomas Sawano, Brian Sheldon, Sofia Tomanov, and Austin Wong.
