South Pasadena High School Student Presents at Anti-Defamation League Annual Gala

Jayden Eden

South Pasadena High School (SPHS) junior, Jayden Eden, recently spoke at the December 9, 2019, Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Annual Gala held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Eden was one of three “Spotlight Presentations” during the event. Thanks to funding from a South Pasadena Educational Foundation (SPEF) grant, this fall both SPHS faculty and a group of 45 students participated in ADL anti-bias training with a focus on inclusion and creating a safe and accepting school environment. After the two-day student workshop, ADL leaders were so impressed with the caliber of SPHS participants that they asked to have a student recount the benefits of the training in front of their full ballroom of invited guests.

Austen Eden, Jayden’s father, and SPHS Principal Janet Anderson and Assistant Principal Janet Wichman, accompanied Eden at the event.
