South Pasadena Middle School: Big Win at the 32nd Annual Alhambra Math Field Day!



Over 250 students from 8 middle schools in the San Gabriel Valley gathered at Mark Keppel High School on Saturday, March 3, for the 32nd Annual Alhambra Math Field Day. For the fourth straight year, South Pasadena Middle School was recognized as the top school.

The following students received trophies and medals for their outstanding efforts:

*Math Terminology – Olivia Chiu (1st), Karen Zhu (2nd), Benedict Rogando (3rd)
*Calculator – Stephanie Kim (1st), Talia Parker (2nd), Min Ji Sang (3rd)
*Fibonacci Presentation – Raymond Gilmartin (1st), Jessica Lopez (2nd)
*Relay – Symona Stans, Christopher Chan, Madie Hellwig, Emily Ye (1st), Kristen Kaflakoff, Kyle Kan, Christine Abbott, Joey Li (2nd)
*8th Advanced Mathematical Concepts – Sebastien Whetsel (1st), Justin Liu (3rd)
*7th Advanced Mathematical Concepts – Kendrick Shen (2nd), Anthony Chen (3rd)
*8th Grade Speed Math – Richard Ruan (1st)
*7th Grade Speed Math – Matt Arena (2nd)
*Chess – Harry Han (1st), Justin Liu (2nd)

Also recognized for placing among the top ten in their event were Connor Dolan, Animesh Mangu, Alex Nakagawa, Grace Kull, Aric Quan, Joseph Oh, Kevin Sy, Nolan Pokpongkiat, Justin Burger, Jaehyung Choi, Jason Kang, Alex Quan, John Heath, Katherine Conte, Elliott Lee, Jenna Giulioni, Grace Kim, Leo Sonner, Sagar Raju, Sheldon Chen, Matthew Cheung, Scott Kawakami, Naomi Low, Sandra Moore, Kate Lam, Tei Park, and Haley Peters.
