St. Andrew Catholic School Welcomes New Teachers



St. Andrew Catholic School is delighted to welcome Mrs. Colisto, Mr. Higuera, Mrs. Bonilla, Mrs. Butler, and Mrs. Santillan (not pictured above) to its community. Mrs. Colisto is the new third grade teacher, she is certified in California as well as in the states of New York and New Jersey, where she has taught in both public and private school settings. Being a veteran teacher, Mrs. Colisto has had the opportunity to teach a variety of grade levels. Additionally, she has taught as a resource teacher for several years, and has been a mentor teacher and literacy coach. Mrs. Colisto is extremely thrilled to be teaching at St. Andrew Catholic School.

Mr. Higuera is a graduate of St. Andrew Catholic School (Class of 2007) and is also a graduate of Bishop Amat High School (Class of 2011). He continued his studies at Georgetown College earning a Master of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies. He began teaching at St. Timothy Catholic School in Union, KY. Mr. Higuera relocated to Eagle Rock and taught at Santa Rose Charter Academy. He is also the Athletic Director at Community Charter High School and baseball coach at CalTech.

Mrs. Butler is thrilled to be joining the St. Andrew Catholic School community as the First Grade teacher! In 2015 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Portland. In 2017 she earned her California multiple subject teaching credential. In December of 2019 she will graduate with an M.Ed. in Inclusive Learning: Special Education and Universal Design from the University of San Diego. Mrs. Butler is passionate about education and truly believes that every child can and will learn. She is eager to implement the IB PYP program and help all of her students succeed to their fullest potential.

Mrs. Bonilla and Mrs. Santillan will be part of the EarlyChildhood team. They both come with years of experience working with PK and TK students as well as Catholic education. On behalf of St. Andrew School, welcome to the team and we look forward to a great year together!
