St. Mark’s School 6th Graders Make Temperate Rainforest Documentary Short Films

In conjunction with St. Mark’s School’s Educational Field Study, its 6th graders prepared for their trip to Olympic National Forest in Washington state by producing short-subject documentaries on animals that are located in the rainforest. They used iPad technology and took ordinary research projects and made it better via iMovie and Green Screen Movie FX Studio apps.

Using research and writing skills the students organized their information into scripts detailing the aspects of a chosen animal. Then, it’s time to film and edit. Once completed, the films were shown and students discussed the strengths and weaknesses of their documentaries and how to improve these on their next projects.
