St. Monica Academy Celebrates Grandparents Day

The theme for this year’s Grandparents Day, “Hava Nagila,” means “Let us rejoice” in Hebrew. Since the deepest roots of Christianity lie in our Jewish heritage, Grandparents Day was a joyful celebration of Old Testament stories and Jewish culture. Some of the best performances were Judith and Holofernes (fifth grade), Noah’s Ark (second grade), The Wedding Dance from Fiddler on the Roof (seventh & eighth grades), and Antonio’s Trial from The Merchant of Venice (sixth grade). After the creative and well-rehearsed performances, our grandparents and special friends enjoyed lunch on the lawn with their families. Special thanks to Miss Genevieve Grimm, Mr. Stephen Grimm, Miss Jane Forsyth, Mr. Richard Martinez, and our parent volunteers for organizing the event. Thanks also to our diligent stage crew who kept up with all the props and transitions: Nora Marji, Elena Ford and Anne Trear.
