St. Monica’s Best Year of Sports



St. Monica Academy’s athletic program has enjoyed a year of exceptional success, with an unprecedented four league titles in Girls Varsity Volleyball and Basketball, and Boys Varsity Basketball and Baseball. In addition, St. Monica’s Boys Varsity Volleyball and Girls Varsity Softball teams have each qualified for the playoffs during their inaugural 2014 season. The following are some highlights from each of the four league championship teams.

Girls Volleyball: This was their 5th consecutive league title, with an overall league-play record of 45-1 in the same five-year period. They have reached the CIF Quarterfinals four times.
Boys Basketball: This was their first league title, which was followed by an exciting first-round playoff victory over Liberty Christian.

Girls Basketball: This was also their first league title, having gone undefeated during the regular season. They later beat the #5-ranked Renaissance Academy in the second round of playoffs.

Boys Baseball: This was their third league title in four years. They have been undefeated in league play for the last two years. On Friday, May 16th, they won a 4-3 victory over arch-rival Cate (ranked #6) for the first time. A week later they upset Desert Chapel 6-1 in the first round of playoffs, and their second-round playoff game is tomorrow against Coast Union in Cambria.
