St. Rita School: Success at SCJFL Speech & Debate Tournament!

It was a small team at Saturday’s SCJFL Speech & Debate Tournament held at Glendale Community College. Just 3 members of the varsity squad — Tess Gauthier, Esteban Sanchez and Katy Bauer — facing 200 competitors from 20 schools. Middle and Junior High School teams and Speech & Debate Academies from LA County, Orange County and even a school from Washington State. And St. Rita School enjoyed great success as the school reached the finals in two events and hit the top ten in a third. Finalists were Katy Bauer who took 4th in Humorous Interpretation and Tess Gauthier who took 3rd in Poetry, which had the largest field of competitors. And Esteban Sanchez finished strong in Declamation.
