To celebrate the beginning of the new school year, we are welcoming our entire Maranatha community to campus for an evening of food, fellowship, and information.
Students, their families, faculty, and staff are invited to join us on Tuesday, August 20, for the annual barbeque – this year retitled “The Back to School Family Fiesta”. This promises to be a fun time of community, good food, activities, and more. In addition, for your convenience and to save you some trips to campus, we combined several other activities you’ll want to attend into a single evening. Here is a breakdown of all that is happening on August 20:
4:00-5:00 PM – Learning Assistance Program (LAP) Family Welcome Reception Students in MHS’ Learning Assistance Program and their families are invited to a “get to know you” reception in the Commons. Come meet Shelbi Wilson-Fields, our new Program Director, and meet other LAP families.
5:00-7:00 PM – Back to School Family Fiesta The beginning of the school year would not be complete without an all-school family celebration. Join us for a little “fiesta flair” and enjoy a complimentary taco dinner (street tacos, rice, beans, chips, cold sodas, and churros), fun activities for the kids, a photo booth, and more. There is no cost for this event, but to help us plan to have enough food, please RSVP online. Also, if you’d like to earn some of your parent hours, you can volunteer to help or donate beverages on our SignUp Genius page. If you have any questions, please contact Jade Rogers at email@example.com.
5:00-7:00 PM – “Second Chance” Used Uniform Sale If you missed July’s Used Uniform Sale, the Parent Association is providing a second chance to pick up nice quality, gently used school uniforms at greatly discounted prices. Visit their booth at the Back to School Family Fiesta and enjoy great savings!
7:00-8:30 PM – All-Sports Opening Night All athletes who are planning on or considering participating in a sport at Maranatha are required to attend the All-Sports Opening Night beginning at 7:00 pm in the Gymnasium. Students must be accompanied by at least one parent. The Booster Club will have Maranatha Gear for purchase at the event. If you have any questions, email Athletic Director Sammy Skinner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
7:00-8:30 PM – Performing Arts Information Night If your student is interested in the Performing Arts Program, please attend the Performing Arts Parent Information Night on at 7:00 pm in the Commons, located on the third floor of the Academic Center. All students who are in, or are auditioning for, a performing arts group or theatrical production are required to attend the meeting with at least one parent. The performing arts groups that must attend are Mixed Ensemble, Dance Team, Honors Orchestra, Orchestra, Dance Company (interested students), and Drum-line.
