The technology goal of Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School is to effectively prepare all students for a multicultural, global, digital, 21st Century world by providing them with the necessary resources and essential skills they will need for college and their future careers. These skills include the ability and confidence to use a broad range of technologies for problem-solving, research, productivity, communications and lifelong learning. Technology should always serve to improve student academic achievement and to enhance the curriculum with challenging, purposeful instructional design.

Classroom Access

All classrooms on campus are equipped with SMART Boards or Epson projectors with touchscreen capabilities which allow teachers to present interactive lessons and activities, educational videos, and subject matter websites. Teachers also utilize document cameras, iPads, and MacBooks to facilitate classroom activities.

Student Access

In the high school, each freshman student us issued a MacBook Air laptop to be used throughout her high school career at Immaculate Heart. In class, students utilize these devices for online research, collaborative writing, recording data for lab reports, accessing online textbooks and curriculum, and creating multimedia projects.

The middle school students are engaged in a 1:1 iPad program. Every incoming sixth grade student is issued a school owned iPad to be used throughout their middle school experience. The iPads are able to connect to the wireless network on campus and are used to access digital textbooks, novels, and work in interactive workbooks and educational apps. All iPad activities are designed to enrich student learning while supporting crucial skill areas, such as higher order thinking skills, new media literacy, creativity, and self-directed learning. The iPads help promote an immersive and active learning environment while providing tremendous opportunities for personalized, student-centered activities.

onCampus, our Learning Management System, enables the exchange of pertinent information among administrators, teachers, counselors, parents, and students. This system provides current students and parents with important announcements, access to faculty websites and assignment pages, current grades, schedules, and attendance records.

Support & Training

Members of the Technology Department provide technology support in a timely manner. Both high school and middle school students receive technology training at the beginning of each school year, including MacBook and iPad basics, productivity, internet safety, and study skills. Additional training is offered throughout the school year.
