Valentine’s annual Fall Fair, the school’s largest event of the year that’s open to the entire community, is just around the corner. “Valentine & the Chocolate Factory” is this year’s fair theme and there will be an abundance of “scrumdiddlyumptious” fun for all to enjoy on the school’s campus on Saturday, October 4th, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

“The inspiration behind this year’s theme is one of all-time favorite movies growing up – ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,’ ” explained Valentine mom and fair co-chair Nancy Ko. “The vision was quite clear from the beginning. I knew I wanted to incorporate several new things to the event. I feel like I’ve won the “Golden Ticket” with my friend and co-chair, Zarana, who shared that same vision.”

Aside from the traditional fair favorites including a plentitude of carnival games, face painting, book nook, costume shop, raffle and cupcake walk, this year’s fair will offer several new features. There will be a few rides and attractions added such as a swaying pirate ship, a water balloon launching game known as Water Wars and a 40 foot tall fiberglass slide. The fair will also feature a newly custom designed and built Valentine jail and an opportunity to purchase personally inscribed Legacy Locks. Families will also have the chance to participate in Valentine’s first ever Family Relay Race.

Professional disk jockey DJ Hem will serve as emcee for the fair’s variety show, “Valentine’s Got Talent.” Variety show participants will also be photographed on a red carpet with a step and repeat media backdrop to give them a true “star experience.” Visitors can also peruse Shopper’s Lane which will have an assortment of retail items such as By SaeRi tote bags, Beads by Meredith Don jewelry, LOVE Reusable Bags, Pasadena’s the Bee Cottage gift items, Valentine Spirit Wear, and Valentine & the Chocolate Factory customized merchandise. Food trucks from California Pizza Kitchen and Dogtown Dogs will be on site as well as 21 Choices Frozen Yogurt , Matt’s Coffee Express and a Snack Shack filled with a variety of treats.

“After spending the last several months living and breathing everything related to the fair, I am excited and anxious for Fair Day to arrive. It is the Big Day where all our hard work pays off. I can’t wait to see children, big and small, run around, have fun and create wonderful memories all for a great cause,” explained fair co-chair and Valentine mom Zarana Patel.

The Fall Fair co-chairs, Nancy Ko and Zarana Patel, worked steadfastly alongside a team of over 40 dedicated parents these past several months. Proceeds from the fair help fund the school’s enrichment programs in the areas of art, music, science and technology.
