This month 6th graders from Washington STEAM Multilingual Academy adventured to Three Oaks Outdoor Science School in Crestline, CA. During the week students deepened their understanding of botany, geology, astronomy, meteorology and ecology through hands on science activities. Students studied human impacts on the environment as they studied the water cycle and conservation efforts in the outdoor setting.

Team building activities were also a highlight as students performed skits, danced, and hiked to strengthen friendships. Overnight trips for each grade level are the highlight of student experiences, says parent Angie Uriu. “Thi is such a critical trip to a stand alone middle school in creating a strong bond between students and staff, and for helping to integrate our school in a really positive way.”

Washington STEAM Multilingual Academy is a magnet school open to all interested students through a lottery and application process. The next lottery takes place online from March 16th-20th at https://schoolchoicepusd.com.

The next school tour is Thursday, March 26th at 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
