Waverly School 9th Grader Daniel K is Undefeated in Five Rounds in Lincoln Douglas Debate Qualifier Tournament



Waverly 9th grader Daniel K. went undefeated in five rounds (5-0) in Lincoln Douglas debate in the district’s debate qualifier tournament on February 25. He earned a coveted spot to compete at the National Speech and Debate Association National tournament, held in Birmingham, Alabama this summer.

Daniel went up against some of the top LD debaters in our district (which includes San Marino High School, Flintridge Prep, Polytechnic, Westridge, Gabrielino High School, among others). Daniel made it to the final round of Lincoln Douglas debate in the JV division of a top national circuit tournament: The USC David Damus Trojan Championship (held at USC in early March 2017). Up until finals, he had been undefeated in six rounds of competition (6-0)!
