Waverly School Seventh Graders Builds “Barriers or Bridges”

Waverly School 7th grade students participated in the “Barriers or Bridges” exercise during advisory today. First, students worked in teams to build a structure out of paper bag blocks. They were given time to “museum walk” around each team’s creation and reflect on what it felt like to collaborate as a team. In the second part of the exercise, students wrote one challenge that they had faced in the first two weeks of middle school, and on the other side of the block they wrote a solution.

They worked together to build a wall out of their blocks and discussed the challenges and solutions that the wall symbolized. At the end of the exercise, students had the opportunity to knock down the wall. This was an opportunity for the 7th graders to build relationships with their peers and discuss their experience in middle school so far. It was also a lot of fun!
