Weizmann Day School on the Recent Acts of Terror in New Zealand

“Our hearts are heavy as we think of the victims of the senseless acts of terror in New Zealand. We stand in solidarity with our close friends at New Horizon School and the Muslim community at large in condemning all acts of terrorism and in sharing the particular outrage we feel when those acts target houses of worship.

In our Shabbat services today we sang Shalom Rav, asking God to grant much needed peace in our world. In our upper elementary and middle school classes, students brainstormed ways we can support our Muslim friends at this difficult time and, seeing the police vehicles on site, discussed heightened security and safety.

It is our privilege and responsibility to teach our students nothing but compassion and kindness so that light can always overcome darkness. Shabbat Shalom.”
