Weizmann is extremely fortunate to have in-depth art instruction from Ellen Dinerman, a nationally known artist and sculptor.

Students in all grades work in a variety of media including printmaking, mosaic, collage, watercolor, figure drawing, ceramics, calligraphy, and weaving and textile art. Selected projects by grade level include:

• Kindergarten and 1st: Color mixing; Introduction to weaving; Design Lines; artists Norman Rockwell, Jackson Pollack, and Miriam Shapiro
• 2nd and 3rd: Van Gogh and expressive painting; Scratchboard; Woven pillows; Constructing a sukkah
• 4th and 5th: Styrofoam printing; Stitchery/applique pillows; Drawing from life; Architecture with recycled materials
• Middle School: Printing with lino cuts; Mosaics; Designing a seed package; Ceramic seder plates

They learn about classical and contemporary art and the “featured artists of the year” through hands-on activities, workshops, and exhibitions.

Weizmann students’ artwork has garnered a number of awards and is regularly on display at local art centers, bookstores, restaurants, regional art shows, and at the annual Weizmann Art Show.
