Westridge Honors Seniors and Cum Laude Society Inductees
Members of the Westridge Upper School community gathered earlier this week for the annual Senior Departmental Honors and to recognize this year’s Cum Laude Society inductees, comprised of both juniors and seniors. Thirty-six different students earned distinction at the assembly.

“(These students) embody the Westridge purpose in that they have developed their intellectual and creative powers and their unique qualities as individuals in impressive and noteworthy ways,” said Head of School Elizabeth J. McGregor in her address to the Upper School student body.
Departmental Awards
• The English department awards honors to students whose love of language and literature inspires themselves and others. This year, the faculty tasked members of the senior class to decide who amongst their peers has inspired them and has enriched their experience in their English classes. The peer-selected English Senior Awards went to Lindsay C., Claire H., Grace P., Mara R., and Anabel S.
• Stephanie D., Lindsay C., Kara E., Sabreen L., Hannah B., and Samantha K. were honored by the History Department faculty for going above and beyond in their understanding of the complexities of history and demonstrating superior writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Samantha K., Ariel L., and Angela Y. all received honors in both mathematics and science, joined by Kara E., Simone G., and Vivienne L. (math), and Angelia R. and Tess S (science).
• The Modern and Classical Languages Department commended Lindsay C., Angela Y. (Spanish), Mara R., Madison B. (Latin), Stephanie D., and Christie H. (Mandarin) for their dedication to communication, drive for perfecting language skills, and their interest in the development of a culture’s language and history.
• Seniors were also recognized for their achievements in the performing arts. Dance honors went to Maasai P-G. and Elaine Y, vocal performance honorees included Lindsay C. and Julia K., and all senior members of the orchestra were collectively recognized. Finally in theatre, awards were presented for accomplishments in costume design, going to Anabel S. and Tess S., production stage management, going to Vivienne L., and performance, going to Emma K. and Olivia S.
Cum Laude Society
The Cum Laude Society recognizes academic achievement in secondary schools for the purpose of promoting three essential qualities: excellence, justice, and honor. Established in 1906, the society is recognized both nationally and internationally, to promote learning and sound scholarship. The following students were inducted and received their pins:
