Westridge School: Pop Culture Assembly

Check out the video highlights on this link from the recent Pop Culture assembly organized by Student Voices, an Upper School student-led leadership group that focuses on many aspects of student diversity work of  Westridge School. The group asked each affinity group to contribute an entry related to their modern culture.

Assembly participants included The Alliance, which performed excerpts from the poem “Say Yes” by Andrea Gibson; The Chinese Affinity Group, which made a video comparing pro basketball player Jeremy Lin to sophomore Olympic trials qualifier Erica Wu; The Jewish Affinity Group, which performed a Turkish Kiss dance; The Students of African Decent Affinity Group, which played an excerpt from The Cosby Show; The Korean Affinity Group, which played a KPop Video; The Latina Affinity Group which spoke and played a video; and American Folk was represented by a senior playing “Wagon Wheel” on the banjo.

Grades 4 through 6 performed in a surprise flash mob and the Middle School band WFSC also performed.
