Westridge Volleyball Team Advances to CIF-SS Division 2AA Quarterfinals

What a great run it was! For the second time in the history of Westridge School the volleyball team advanced to CIF-SS Division 2AA Quarter Finals! Volleyball played a fabulous game at #1 ranked Village Christian on Saturday night. With rally bus fans and those who traveled alone the Tigers had a crowd as big as a home match and nearly twice as loud!

After the first game jitters (14-25), the Tigers got in the groove, controlled the game and won 25-21! The third and fourth game were close as the Tigers were ahead or the lead was within reach several times. However, the Crusaders ended on top (16-25, 17-25). As Village Christian has five seniors heading to play volleyball in college, it was a very good test for our team and will build the foundation for next year’s playoffs.

The Tigers were led by sophomore Allison Martinez with 21 kills! Setter Angelica Raymundo ’17 had an amazing 31 assists! And, senior Michelle Aguirre who battled illness the entire week stood strong with 13 digs!

A special shout-out to both Westridge seniors – Michelle Aguirre and Hannah Maltzan – for their leadership, amazing play and undying support of their team.
