Streets are empty. Schools and parks are closed. Your TV and personal devices have been on all day. That huge puzzle is almost done.

Perhaps the silver lining in the current crisis is the idea of families eating together. With nowhere to rush off to, dinner can be a special time again.

A number of restaurants have come up with creative ideas in that regard, including the three Smith Brothers Restaurants—Arroyo Chop House, Parkway Grill and Smitty’s Grill.

These three restaurants have extended their hours and are offering to-go menus for pick-up and delivery. Call in an order for pick-up and the staff will bring your meal out to your car. While already offering delivery through third-party services like DoorDash, in light of recent circumstances, Smith Brothers launched their own delivery service offering delivery to Pasadena and the surrounding cities for $7 with a $40 order minimum. Simply call the restaurant for availability.

For those looking to prepare a meal at home, Smith Brothers Restaurants are also offering “Gourmet Groceries” for sale at all of their locations.

“We are offering the highest quality meats, sauces, and other specialty items you cannot find in stores, including discounted pricing on bottles of wine, so guests can purchase some of the same ingredients we use in our award-winning cuisine for their home-cooking.” said Gregg Smith, co-owner with brother Bob.

“Each of the restaurants has a dedicated online store for their Gourmet Groceries where you can check-out and pay online. You can select restaurant pick-up or take advantage of the Smith Brothers delivery service as well.

Order dinner to-go tonight and then add fresh salmon, fingerling potatoes, and a bottle of wine to your order, and now you have dinner to look forward to tomorrow night as well.

Other notable selections include U.S.D.A. Prime Beef (the same steaks served at Arroyo Chop House), Smitty’s much-loved salad dressings, and Parkway’s homemade Bolognese sauce—which will beat anything you might find in a jar at the store. Wine lovers will be particularly pleased to see the selection of wines available, and for something extra special Parkway Grill is even selling its wildly popular Double Barrel Aged Cocktails.

As Mark Brown, Bar Manager and Mixologist for Parkway Grill says, “Think of it as a twice elevated cocktail.” Once the recipe is created, Mark barrel ages the batch for 36 days and then again for an additional 42 days in a different barrel. This allows for more of the unique nuance of wood to come through. The Double-Wood Barrel Aged Old Fashion and Manhattan are each sold in a half liter for $49.00 and makes 5-6 perfectly balanced. Just pour over ice with either a fresh orange peel or a couple of luxardo cherries.

After perusing the steaks, sauces, wine, and spirits available from the Smith Brothers online stores, you might determine that there is no reason your home table can’t be one of the best locales for food and beverages around. So turn off the tv, clear aside the puzzle, and let’s make mealtime special again.
