[UPDATED] More than 75 volunteers passed out approximately 1,510 turkeys and hams at Robinson Park on Saturday at Pasadena City Councilmember John Kennedy’s annual Turkey Giveaway.

Volunteers included members of the Pasadena Police Department, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, the Pasadena Fire Department, My Tribe Rise, Children Working to Save Our Planet, USMC-Pasadena, Blair Jr. ROTC, Deputy Police Chief Cheryl Moody, the Pasadena High School football team, Northwest Ambassadors, and members of the city of Pasadena’s Executive Leadership Team.

Volunteers at Kennedy’s event at Robinson Park passed out boxes of food from the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

“This is something that we have been doing for seven years,” said Kennedy, who represents the city’s District 3.

The drive-thru complied with coronavirus guidelines and required local residents to sign up for one of three time slots established for the event. Supplies were limited to one turkey per family.

This year, local food drives have been forced to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the past, Kennedy combined the turkey giveaway with a job and resource fair.
