The public is invited to join in Saturday as ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena sends its next generation of innovators out into the world during a virtual graduation ceremony.

The event begins at 10 a.m. via Zoom., according to the institution.

“Immediately after the ceremony, we’re hosting a virtual version of Grad Show, inviting graduating students to connect with friends, family and the ArtCenter community online,” ArtCenter spokeswoman Teri Bond. “The Grad Show website features individual pages for each graduating student to showcase their work, schedule Zoom meetings and receive ‘scribble’ messages from visitors.

It will mark the college’s third entirely-online graduation ceremony, following prior ones in April and August, according to Bond.

Graphic Design student Erin Hill will be honored as the school’s valedictorian, officials said. Additional honors to be bestowed include the Student Leadership Award, to be presented to Graphic Design student Abigail Dergazarian and the ArtCenter Honors, going to Photography and Imaging student Ashley Alexander and Advertising student Rhema Gabriela.

In keeping with tradition, a group of distinguished former students will also be honored during the graduation ceremony with the ArtCenter Alumni Awards.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to New York-based photographer Lee Friedlander, according to ArtCenter. Los Angeles-based photographer and director Melodie McDaniel will receive the Distinguished Midcareer Award.

Graphic designer, author and longtime teacher Allison Goodman will be presented with the Outstanding Service Award, and Seattle-based inventor and designer Parker Kunci will be honored with the school’s Young Innovator Award.

The Grad Show website will remain available well beyond Saturday, “for the entire art and design community, friends and family to view the inspiring work and connect with graduates,” Bond said.

ArtCenter will be presenting 174 bachelor’s degrees and 16 master’s degrees, according to school data. The graduating class includes 72 international students, representing 17 countries.

The graduation ceremony will be streamed live on Zoom at https://artcenter.zoom.us/j/98520248016, as well as on ArtCenter’s web site, Facebook and YouTube platforms.
