Deputies arrested three suspects in connection with five separate shootings that left three victims wounded in Altadena on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The first in the series of shootings took place about 12:10 p.m. in the 3100 block of Santa Anita Ave, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Information Bureau.

A witness reported hearing about 15 gunshots and seeing a person running from the area, she said. A person was wounded in the attack, but no description of the victim was available.

Two more shootings took place about 30 minutes later at two different liquor stores in 3100 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, Arteaga said. No victims were found at those scenes.

Gunfire again rang out about 12:55 p.m. in the 3100 block of Olive Avenue, Arteaga said. Initial reports indicated a person was shot in the area and then fled into a nearby home.

Both wounded victims were expected to survive, she said. The victim of the Santa Anita Avenue shooting was described as a 49-year-old man, while the man wounded in the shooting on Olive Avenue was 31.

Following the first four attacks, sheriff’s officials announced they were looking for a silver or gray car containing three male suspects in connection with the spate of shootings. The shooter was believed to have been riding as a rear passenger.

A fifth shooting was reported just after 5 p.m. in a residential neighborhood in the 200 block of West Harriet Street, according to Morgan. A man was shot in the “lower extremities” and hospitalized with wounds not believed to be life-threatening.

The five shooting scenes were within about two miles of one another.

“Shortly after the last shooting that occurred at the 200 block of West Harriet Street, officers from the Pasadena Police Department detained a vehicle with three male black adults in it, which matched the description of the suspects described in the earlier shootings,” the sheriff’s department said in a written statement. “Detectives from Altadena Station and Operations Safe Street Bureau responded and took the suspects into custody in connection with the shootings.”

The investigation was being spearheaded by investigators from the sheriff’s OSS Bureau, which specializes in gang crime.
