38 Years of Great Mexican Dining at La Fiesta Grande Mexican Restaurant y Cantina

Since it first opened way back in 1974, La Fiesta Grande on East Colorado Boulevard has delighted diners looking for an exceptional Mexican food experience in the Pasadena area. Almost four decades later, La Fiesta Grande still stands as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Pasadena, despite the emergence of various competitors.

Erasmo Delgado, proprietor since 1990, says he owes the restaurant’s success to the restaurant’s great menu, great food, and great service.

“We have a large variety: we have seafood, we have steaks, we have salads, and tostadas. Lo mejor de todo (the best of everything),” says Delgado of the restaurant’s offerings.

Mexican food enthusiasts would know about this variety Delgado speaks of, as one look at La Fiesta Grande’s menu would be enough to stoke any Mexican food fan’s cravings.

From the traditional tacos and burritos, to the more exotic house specialties, and to the cantina-inspired New York steaks, La Fiesta Grande has all the makings of a great Mexican meal.

“All the ingredients are fresh, and everything is made daily,” says Delgado of their menu’s offerings.

Located at 624 East Colorado Boulevard, La Fiesta Grande is conveniently in the Pasadena Playhouse district, making it the perfect place to stop by for dinner before a show.

Boasting a full bar, the restaurant also holds Happy Hour specials every Monday to Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where drinks are served at special discount prices with complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

One thing that not a lot of people may know about La Fiesta Grande is that there is another location in South Pasadena.

“The other place has been there for 20 years now,” says Delgado. “The South Pasadena location is on Mission Street, just one block west of Fremont. That location is smaller than the Pasadena location, but we have the same menu. It’s a full-service restaurant.”
