The 55th Annual Sierra Madre Art Fair, sponsored by the Friends of the Sierra Madre Library, will be held in Memorial Park, 222 West Sierra Madre Blvd., on Saturday, May 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Eighty artists, including 14 newly juried, will display and sell their works of art. Mediums include oil paintings, jewelry, watercolors, glass, wood, metal, wearable art, photography, pottery, ceramics, mixed media and weaving. The Art Fair will be the perfect place to buy Mom that wonderful Mother’s Day gift or to buy upcoming graduation and wedding gifts, as well as to purchase pieces for your own enjoyment.

The Featured Artist this year is Karen McLean-McGaw. Her “Estuary Reflections” watercolor appears on all posters, post cards, flyers, and other promotional materials.

Live Music will be featured throughout the weekend in the band shell and on the southeast lawn. In the Band Shell on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Northeast LA Jazz Group and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Natalie Clark Music from Scotland. On Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Severin Browne and Friends (Original songs and American Pop Music) and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Steve Trovato and Tim Kobza, Guitars and Vocals (Jazz-Rock-Country-Blues).

On the Southeast Lawn on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon – Luckpenny (Irish) and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Evan Marshall Mandolin Maestro. On Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon — Banna Beag Mall (Irish) and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Jean Sudbury (eclectic display of Continental music).

Food vendors will offer a variety of food and drinks. Scheduled to participate are Taquito Lover, Korean BBQ, the Gourmet Genie Food Truck, Sweet Beginnings and Hawaiian Honey Cones.

The Friends of the Library will have a booth selling their popular sweet ‘quick’ breads and the Sierra Madre Historical Preservation Society will be selling their famous lemonade made from rangpur limes.

For the children, instructors from the Creative Arts Group have planned a special craft activity — making flower bouquets with different colors and shapes of paper.

Be sure to stop by the Wine & Beer Garden on the front lawn of the Park. It will be open Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Again, this year we will feature a Silent Auction. To date, 40 artists have donated lovely, one-of-a-kind pieces for the auction which means you’ll have an opportunity to bid on some really beautiful artwork and also support the Library.

Volunteers and Bakers are needed! To volunteer at the Friends Booth, Friends Food Booth, Silent Auction, Wine & Beer Garden, as an area Host or Hostess or to donate Baked Goods, please contact Fran Garbaccio at (626) 843-1117 or fgarbaccio@aol.com to let her know when and how you can help.

All Proceeds from the Art Fair benefit the Sierra Madre Public Library. Any questions please visit www.sierramadrelibraryfriends.org or call (626) 355-7186. “We now have a Facebook page so please Like us!”
