Police arrested a 59-year-old Pasadena resident who was brandishing a handgun outside a home along N. Chester Avenue in Pasadena Saturday night.
For no apparent reason, the man, identified later as Alfred Montoya, was yelling incoherently and still holding the handgun when police officers arrived on scene.
The incident happened near the 700 block of N. Chester Avenue, at about 6 p.m., according to police.
“When officers arrived, they saw the man was indeed holding a gun down at his side and yelling about kids trying to take away his house,” Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said. “The officers gave him the command to drop the weapon and surrender, which he complied with.”
Montoya was detained and investigated, and later arrested for misdemeanor in brandishing a firearm.
The suspect was booked at the Pasadena City Jail.
