Friendship Pasadena Church, one of Old Pasadena’s historic landmark is the location of the next 5th Sunday Gospel Brunch on March 29 at 12:30 p.m. This promises to be another fabulous event of delectable southern cuisine plus riveting gospel and soulful sounds from local entertainers.
All proceeds from the afternoon’s event will benefit the Pasadena Friendship Community Development Corporation’s (PFCDC) affordable housing and community service programs. The PFCDC is a 501( C ) 3 non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission is to provide affordable housing and services for seniors and families-at-risk.
Starting at 12:30 pm on the 29th enjoy a delicious Southern brunch of shrimp and grits, chicken, and waffles, assorted breakfast meats and fresh fruit along with other tasty brunch favorites at 80 West. After brunch proceed upstairs to Friendship’s historic Sanctuary for an unforgettable gospel concert with a jazzy vibe which begins at 2:30 pm.
Varetta Heidelberg from Altadena, a classically trained musician will bless the audience with an upbeat gospel genre on Saxophone. Heidelberg says, once she was saved by the Holy Spirit she heard God saying, I have something for you to do which includes your instrument.
The soulful sounds of The Hill Family in Song is our second group. Spanning several generations, the Hill family ensemble delivers a unique and joyful body of song.
Finally, Friendship’s very own Nichelle Holliday, author and distinguished poet will share her profound and lyrical poetry that packs meaning and relevance into today’s life.
