Community Can Increase Donation to $10,000 by Sharing the Story

Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® are pleased to announce that Bolton & Company has earned a 2020 Make More Happen Award™, which recognizes their volunteer work with AbilityFirst and demonstrating its commitment to improving the local community. The award includes a $5,000 donation that will directly benefit AbilityFirst, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities achieve their full life potential through a variety of person-centered programs.

By visiting www.AgentGiving.com/bolton-company, community members can help double the charity donation from Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® to $10,000. Their story needs to be shared on Facebook more than 500 times to receive the full donation.

Steve Brockmeyer, President and CEO of Bolton & Company, first became involved with the nonprofit 14 years ago when a close family member was diagnosed with autism. The diagnosis rocked his family’s world until a friend introduced him to AbilityFirst. After seeing the tremendous work the nonprofit provides to children and adults with disabilities, he knew he had to get involved. Brockmeyer is honored to be a part of the Board of Directors and have over numerous Bolton & Company employees volunteer through the program.

Through the $10,000 donation, AbilityFirst will be able to strengthen a wide variety of life-enhancing programs for children, adults, and seniors with developmental disabilities who want to achieve their life goals. The programs range from community-based after school enrichment programs for young adults to life skills development and job training for adults wanting to enter the workforce and group homes for adults and seniors. More specifically, the $10,000 can provide a month of afterschool programming for up to 80 children and youth with disabilities or provide up to 12 children and adults with financial assistance who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford the program.

“I saw firsthand what this amazing organization can do and I felt that I had to give back whatever I could and pay it forward to the families who are struggling with such great challenges,” said Brockmeyer. “Because we are so personally involved with the nonprofit, we are truly grateful to Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® for the Make More Happen Award™ because it is an incredible opportunity for us to provide much needed funds to support their important work.”

Beginning on Wednesday, March 11, the story of Bolton & Company and AbilityFirst will be featured on the official Make More Happen microsite www.AgentGiving.com giving the nonprofit a chance to earn the additional $5,000. If their story receives at least 500 shares via the microsite, the donation will be doubled to $10,000.

“Our agents truly carry the ball when it comes to stepping up and volunteering for important causes in their local communities so we are pleased to support their game-changing dedication to the nonprofit organizations they support,” said Sharon Anderson-Moore, the agency’s Liberty Mutual® Los Angeles Region Territory Manager. “The Make More Happen program gives our agents an opportunity to make an even greater impact in the Los Angeles community and we hope it inspires local residents to get out and support local charities.”

Throughout 2020, Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® will select a total of 34 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award™ donating up to $340,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit, along with photos of a project they worked on.
