The 30th Pasadena Chalk Festival, canceled on April 27 after new owners of the venue the Festival had called home for decades pulled their support, announced the Festival is back on and set to go ahead on Father’s Day.

Even better, it will be held right across the street from its former location.

“We’re excited to partner with The Pasadena Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Pasadena Convention Center and the City of Pasadena, who all came together quickly to rescue this year’s event. Our city places great value on arts and culture, and this is a perfect example,” said Tom Coston, chair of the board of the Light Bringer Project, which stages the Festival.

The event will now take place on the Plaza at the Pasadena Convention Center (300 E. Green Street) on June 17th and 18th.

Over 500 artists come together annually to create 200 chalk murals in Pasadena, filling Father’s Day weekend with festive art, live music, children’s activities, art on display, silent auction items, and more.

“Historically, the Center has hosted several artists during Chalk Festival weekends on the Plaza and there’s sufficient space available to host the entire event this year,” said Michael Ross, CEO of the Pasadena Center Operating Company. “It took quick action by all interested parties to secure this year’s Chalk Festival. Because the Chalk Festival draws thousands of visitors annually to Pasadena, it just made sense to make it happen for the community.”

This year, guests will continue to enjoy the prime Civic Center District location, where the pedestrian-friendly downtown neighborhoods offer a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops, and hotels for chalk enthusiasts from near and far.
