All Saints Church in Pasadena will be hosting a variety of programs and services on Sunday, Aug. 4, catering to diverse spiritual and community needs. The day’s events include sermons, choir performances, workshops, and activities for children and adults.
Reverend Canon Susan Russell will deliver sermons at both the 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. services, with the Summer Choir performing at the latter. The 10 a.m. service will also feature ASL interpretation, making it accessible to the deaf community.
A Summer Sunday workshop titled “Caring Compassionately – Navigating Grief, Loss, and Major Life Transitions” will be held at 9 a.m. in the Guild Room. Led by Jonathan Stoner, the session aims to help attendees develop strategies for supporting those experiencing difficult life changes.
“Join Jonathan Stoner and explore how we nurture our own hearts while supporting those who are sick, suffering, and grieving,” the church announcement said. The workshop promises to be interactive, offering participants a chance to share their experiences. Donuts will be served during the session.
Children’s programming is a key focus of the day’s activities. Children’s Chapel, available during the 10 a.m. service, offers a range of engaging activities for kindergarten through 5th grade students. Parents are always welcome to join.
For younger children, childcare services are provided for infants and toddlers from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Regas House. Parents are required to register their children and sign them in and out for each session.
The church continues its Summer Choir program, inviting all tuneful voices to participate. Rehearsals begin at 9 a.m. in the Church Chancel, where participants will rehearse, be vested, and then lead the 10 a.m. service.
Following the morning service, the church will host a coffee hour and summer fun activities, including popcorn and lemonade on the lawn.
For those seeking deeper spiritual engagement, a Journey of Faith Sharing Group meets from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the OCC Conference Room. This drop-in session, facilitated by Amanda McCormick, offers a space for exploring faith and building connections.
Couples looking to strengthen their relationships can attend the “Living Our Lives Together” Workshop from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Guild Room. Dr. Charles Foster will lead the session. He and his wife are internationally recognized relationship experts with 15 published books in 24 languages. The workshop series runs through Aug. 11.
The day concludes with a Zoom bible study at 4 p.m., titled “Reclaiming the Bible.” Led by Dr. Foster, this study aims to heal and move beyond misunderstandings, confusion, and hurtful interpretations of the Bible, promoting a message of love and reconciliation.
All Saints Church offers a live stream of the 10 a.m. service on their website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.
