On Sunday, July 22, 5:00 p.m. at the All Saints Church Chancel, Jazz Vespers will be held with Holly Hofmann and Mike Wofford. Holly Hofmann has taken the flute from its middle-of-the-orchestra origins and made it a front-line instrument in jazz. She has earned the praise and respect of musicians and jazz aficionados for her bluesy, bebop-based improvisations and technical prowess on an instrument that many once regarded as definitely not a jazz horn. Wofford continues to be one of the most in-demand pianists in jazz, having played and recorded with Bobby Watson, Jeff Hamilton, Charles McPherson, Joe Henderson, Kevin Mahogany, James Moody, Phil Woods, Kenny Burrell, Benny Golson, as well as duo-piano appearances with Kenny Werner and Pete Malinverni. Hofmann and Wofford married in 2000 and the two toured in a quartet with Brown and Lewis. Zelda Kennedy will offer a meditation. Child care is provided. If you would like to use the elevator for accessibility, please arrive five minutes early.
