Authorities on Saturday released the identity of a 30-year-old Altadena man who was killed in a crash that also severely injured his passenger in which his car plummeted off the 210 Freeway in Pasadena on Friday night.
Randall Crow Acosta died in the 8 p.m. crash along 210 Freeway near Lincoln Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Lt. Larry Smith.
He was at the wheel of a car that careened off the westbound side of the elevated freeway, struck Lincoln Avenue below and rolled over numerous times, city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said. The vehicle came to rest in the front yard of a home, about 100 yards north of the 210 Freeway.
Paramedics pronounced Acosta dead at the scene, California Highway Patrol officials said.
A passenger of the badly mangled car was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Derderian said.
Further information regarding the circumstances or cause of the crash were not available Saturday afternoon.
The investigation is being handled by the CHP’s Altadena-area office. Any witnesses, or anyone with information, can reach the office at (626) 296-8100.
