The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) — Pasadena Chapter has endorsed Jennifer Hall Lee for re-election to the Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education District 2 seat. The endorsement comes as Lee, currently serving as the Board’s vice president, prepares for the November 2024 General Election.
Lee, an Altadena resident, garnered ANCA support for her “comprehensive understanding” of District issues and vision for improvement.
Maria Ekizian, ANCA — Pasadena Chapter Secretary, praised Lee’s awareness of concerns affecting all District children, including those in the Armenian American community.
“Ms. Lee is aware of the issues that grip the school district and has an understanding of what it would take to correct and redress the issues of concern for all of the district’s children and their parents, including those of the Armenian American community,” Ekizian said.
Responding to the endorsement, Lee expressed gratitude and optimism for the future. “I am honored to be endorsed by the ANCA — Pasadena Chapter and look forward to the continued success of all of our students and the Armenian Academy at Blair and Webster schools,” she said.
Lee brings a unique background to her role, having spent three decades in the entertainment industry as a visual effects specialist. Her career included work for major studios such as Technicolor, Warner Bros, and Lucasfilm before transitioning to public service in 2015.
Lee served on the Altadena Town Council from 2015 to 2020, including as Treasurer, before joining the PUSD Board in 2020.
Since joining the PUSD Board, Lee has focused on several key areas, including student achievement, inclusive practices, and addressing declining enrollment. She inspired the creation of the Superintendent’s Enrollment Committee and chairs the Student Safety and School Climate Committee.
Lee has also completed Master’s in governance training for the California School Boards Association.
The ANCA — Pasadena Chapter, founded in 1979, advocates for the Armenian American community’s rights and promotes increased civic participation.
