As of this writing the South Bound lanes on Arroyo Parkway between Del Mar Boulevard and Bellevue Avenue are closed due to a Hazmat situation. Traffic is snarled and it is advised that you take Raymond Avenue or Marengo Avenue to avoid any delays.

A strange order was detected at the Huntington Reproductive Center, 333 Arroyo Parkway. Initially “people were experiencing irritation to the eyes, but it has been upgraded to a full Hazmat situation,” said Pasadena Fire Department Spokesperson Lisa Derderian.

Pasadena PIO William Boyer added, “A total of 18 people were evacuated and evaluated on site. Five people were transported to the hospital complaining of sore throats and headaches.”

Currently Hazmat is trying to determine what the odor is that is causing the symptoms. So far they have been unable to identify what the suspicious odor is.

South Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale Hazmat are assisting Pasadena.
