Former Sierra Madre Mayor John Harabedian, who is running for State Assembly District 41, reported this week he is a fundraising frontrunner with a campaign war chest of over $827,000 as of December 31.
He also reported having $621,589 cash on hand.
Harabedian faces opponents Claremont City Councilmember Jed Leano and former Pasadena Police Lt. Dr. Phlunté Riddle.
Harabedian, a Democrat, thanked everyone who is supporting his assembly bid.
“I am incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, neighbors, and community members. Together, we’re building a movement for positive change here in AD 41, and our fundraising numbers reflect how hard this team is working to do just that. I am deeply humbled by the support and I am looking forward to the campaign ahead in the new year,” Harabedian said.
Born and raised in Sierra Madre, Harabedian is a California State Board President.
A lawyer by profession, he has worked as a prosecutor at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, and as an attorney at Latham & Watkins, Stanford’s Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, and the Equality Pro Bono Project.
He has secured endorsement from several politicians and local leaders including State Senator Anthony Portantino, former Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek, Pasadena City Councilmember Felicia Williams, Pasadena Community College Trustee Jim Osterling, former Pasadena School Board Member Roy Boulghourjian and former Pasadena School Board Member Larry Torres.
His platform is centered on building affordable housing to reduce homelessness, combating climate change, funding mental health treatment to get people off the streets and investing in higher education to ensure people can learn the skills they need for the workforce.
