Pasadena’s Avery Williams, who played for St. Francis High School in La Cañada Flintridge and later JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, has signed a four-year rookie contract with the Atlanta Falcons.

A report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, quoting Williams’ agent David Canter, said the contract is worth $3.7 million, plus a $240,000 bonus.

The cornerback/returner, a fifth-round pick – 183rd overall out of Boise State – attended the Falcons’ offseason program and worked out mostly at cornerback, the report said. He was one of five players the Falcons signed for the 2021 draft class.

At 5 feet 9 inches and 195 pounds, Williams was a four-year cornerback and return specialist who played 48 games at Boise State. He posted 152 career tackles, 26 passes defensed, four interceptions and five fumble recoveries.

On special teams, Williams, 22, totaled 38 kick returns for 1,042 yards, including three touchdowns, while adding 82 punt returns for 948 yards, including six touchdowns.

Williams signed the contract in Atlanta on Tuesday, the Journal-Constitution report said.
