Attorney Joins Lagerlof, LLP Expanding Employment Law Practice

Employment law attorney, Kien C. Tiet, has joined Pasadena based law firm, Lagerlof, LLP. 

Kien C. Tiet has joined Lagerlof, LLP as Senior Counsel working from the firm’s Pasadena office. With Kien joining the firm, Lagerlof, LLP will now be able to expand their practice areas to include advising employers throughout California regarding employment law matters. This will be the twelfth practice area that Lagerlof, LLP will be able to offer clients. 

The firm serves clients ranging from sole proprietors to multinational corporations by developing programs that improve and define employment relationships to reduce the risk of disputes and litigation.

Kien focuses his employment law practice on advising employers throughout all stages of the employment relationship, including hiring, contract negotiation, policy drafting, discipline, termination and restrictive covenant enforcement. His litigation experience includes cases involving claims for discrimination, harassment, wage and hour violations, FMLA violations, disability and requests for accommodation in both single-plaintiff and class action matters.  Kien regularly handles matters at all levels, from administrative agencies to jury trials to appeals in both state and federal courts.  Kien also counsels clients through the mediation process and provides advice regarding best practices to avoid litigation.

Kien joins Lagerlof most recently from Jackson Lewis, P.C. and has held positions of chief financial officer, chief operating officer, general counsel and executive director for businesses in manufacturing, oil and gas, higher education, and rail car repair service. With his knowledge of the complex California and federal employment laws combined with his vast experience, Kien vigorously advocates for the rights of his clients after defining the client’s interests and establishing a strategy for a successful outcome.
