A 20-year-old bicyclist was critically injured from a collision with another bicyclist on Mountain Street at Garfield Avenue Saturday at 6:00 p.m., police said.
The head-on crash was with a 17-year-old bicyclist who sustained “little to no injuries” in the collision, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson told the Pasadena Star-News.
Officers who first arrived at the scene found the 20-year-old man unconscious and reported he “appeared to be suffering from severe head trauma,” Clawson told the newspaper.
The man was immediately taken to Huntington Hospital where he was listed in “severely critical condition,” Clawson added.
According to the initial investigation, the man was heading west on Mountain Street with the flow of traffic, while the teenager was heading east against the flow of traffic when the collision occurred.
The older man allegedly was not wearing a helmet and struck his head on the pavement, Clawson told the Star-News.
The investigation is on going.
