Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza Cancels In-Store March 14 Pi Day Celebration

Blaze Pizza, the Pasadena-based modern-day “pizza joint” serving up fast and affordable artisanal pizzas, has canceled its in-store Pi Day celebration, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 14 at all of its locations.

Instead, all customers using the Blaze Pizza app will receive the $3.14 pizza award starting Monday, March 16. The reward is redeemable through the end of the year at the customer’s convenience, the company announced.

In a statement, Blaze Pizza said the decision was reached as “communities continue to feel the increased impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19).”

The annual Pi Day event has customarily drawn large crowds of pizza lovers to Blaze Pizza’s stores, which includes two in Pasadena and a store in South Pasadena.

“We continue to be hyper-focused on delivering a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests and team members,” Mandy Shaw, Blaze Pizza’s CEO, said. “Our restaurants remain open, and we look forward to serving guests their favorite pizza, whether they choose to dine in, or opt for delivery.”

Shaw also posted a message online saying the company takes the health and well-being of guests and team members very seriously.

“We are reinforcing the recommended measures on appropriate hygiene standards and following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and local health authorities,” Shaw wrote. “This includes strongly reinforcing our policies for more frequent hand washing as well as the cleaning and frequent sanitization of high contact areas, such as door handles, chairs, tables, food equipment and other surfaces. We will continue to enforce our policy of not allowing employees who are ill or showing signs of illness to come to work.”

To get the new $3.14 Pi-Day pizza reward, customers should make sure to download the Blaze Pizza app by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.
