Los Angeles has an undeniable presence in the field of media – from Hollywood movies with stunning special effects to online publications with interactive components – today’s media landscape is a multi-faceted world. Students eager to join this evolving field need to understand the basics of both arts and business.

Mt. Sierra College, a media and technology focused school, gives students the edge they need to succeed in today’s multimedia world. This bachelor’s degree program teaches media arts, computers, information technology. It’s programs are business, business entrepreneurship, network communications, computer information systems, visual effects, graphic design and game arts.

“A majority of our students are in our media arts programs. So game arts, graphic design are definitely high points on the campus. The business and business entrepreneurship are definitely up and coming programs. And our IT programs have a very strong presence in the network communication and the computer information system,” said John Davis. This combination of learning areas gives students the skills they need to succeed as a freelancer, business owner or employee after graduation.

Mt. Sierra is known for its small class sizes and focus on experience. Students interact with professors, many of whom are industry professionals, and each other to build their portfolios prior to graduation.

This year, the college has fostered partnerships with local colleges so that students can continue their studies. “Our students that [graduate] from our bachelor’s media arts program can be accepted into their master fine arts program,” said President Bill Kakish.

In addition, Mt. Sierra offers a unique Lifelong Learning Program so that graduates can stay up-to-date with new technologies. “Our graduates can come back because technology changes so much. They can take courses in their program for free…we’re really excited about that program, it’s ongoing,” said President Bill Kakish.

This year, the college is moving to a newly renovated campus which offers students state-of-the-art technology and resources.

Registration for our winter term is still open and available for all of our programs. President Bill Kakish encourages prospective students to come visit the campus and get to know the staff.

“So we start [student’s] academic experience with a face to face interview and they get a lot of attention and a lot of access to resources all the way through the program that makes them feel like they are somebody important on the campus. It’s a very personal, student-oriented community. [We] focus on those really exciting outcomes that the industry provides,” explained President Kakish.

Enrollment is now open for the Winter 2016 term. Visit http://mtsierra.edu/admissions or call (888) 828-8800 for more information.
