HomeState, perhaps best known for its breakfast taco, will soon be moving into the location at 1992 Lincoln Ave. in Pasadena that was formerly occupied by Lincoln, a much-loved cafe and pastry shop that closed in July due to the coronavirus.
Texas-based HomeState, according to Eater L.A., will take over the former Lincoln site this spring, with plans to offer takeout and delivery only at the start, before expanding into sit-down service and alcohol.
Officials with the company confirmed the move, which is being heralded by a bright blue billboard in front of the building. There’s no firm timetable for the opening.
The light, airy Lincoln had been a staple for the neighborhood since first opening six years ago as a sister location to owner Christine Moore’s Little Flower on West Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. But Lincoln closed as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
The upcoming opening of HomeState in Pasadena comes on the heels of the company’s other openings in Highland Park and Playa Vista.
The restaurant’s original location, at the edge of East Hollywood and Los Feliz, has been open since 2013. A planned Orange County outlet ultimately fell through as a result of the pandemic as well.
